Quiet Giving

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret.  Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.  Matthew 6:3-4

Do you consider yourself to be a generous person?  God instructs us throughout Scripture to be a giver.  As we journey towards our Heavenly Home, we will encounter many people who will have needs.  Have you ever thought that God has placed certain people in your life for you to meet their needs in the name of Jesus Christ?  God has preordained appointments for us.  Prayerfully consider that God is placing certain people in your path for you to meet their need.  We can be a giver of many things – money, time, encouraging words, a helping hand, food, etc.  Choose today to be a quiet giver.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:1 – Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them.  If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.  When pride creeps into our heart, we become people who desire to be seen and acknowledged for what we do and what we give.  We like the praise, the acknowledgement.  When we give quietly in the name of Jesus; honor, glory, and praise goes to our LORD.  We desire not one ounce of praise.  It all belongs to our Savior and LORD, Jesus Christ.  Prayerfully ask the LORD to remove all pride in your heart in relation to giving to others.  Jesus knows our heart.  He knows our motives.  We might be able to hide our motives from others, but we will never be able to hide our true motive from our creator and LORD.  Jeremiah 17:10 – “I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”

We must have a proper perspective and realize and accept that what we have belongs to the LORD.  He has placed us as steward over our possessions and even our time.  Psalm 24:1 – The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.  God is instructing us to use what He has given us to meet the needs of others.  Deuteronomy 15:10 – Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.

Prayerfully ask God to open your eyes to those He has placed in your path that He desires for you to help.  God is calling us to give in secret, but our eyes must be open to see those who have a need.  Ask God for spiritual discernment on how He desires for you to meet the needs of another.

Ask God to transform your heart into a generous heart.  As children of Almighty God, we are called to take action.  We miss many blessings from our Heavenly Father because we refuse to be generous.  1 John 3:17-18 – If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?  Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

Our Savior and LORD desires for us to be generous, to be a quiet giver.  Choose today to give in the name of Jesus Christ and give God all the honor, glory, and praise.
Dear Heavenly Father, transform our hearts.  Help us to see the needs of others, who you place in our path.  Reveal to us what You desire us to give.  In Jesus Name I Pray
