He has sent me to bind
up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from
darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the
day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who
grieve in Zion – to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil
of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of
despair. They will be called oaks of
righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of His splendor. Isaiah 16:2-3
Hello sweet
friends. This past week I prayerfully
began to seek the topic that my Savior and LORD desired for me to write about
in this devotional. God revealed to me
through Bible study and pray that He wanted me to write on the topic of
brokenness. Search your heart today and
consider these questions. Are you
currently in a season of brokenness? Are
you rehashing the details related to your season of brokenness instead of
resting in God’s healing touch? I
pray you will make the decision to rest in God’s
presence and allow his healing touch to comfort your mind, soul, and spirit.
Many
situations and circumstances can cause us to enter into a season of
brokenness. Tragedy, broken
relationships, broken dreams, illness, and sin, are just a few. When we are in a season of brokenness, Satan
wants us to believe all hope is gone. I
tell you today that all hope is not gone. God is stronger than your
brokenness. Run after God for
healing.
God’s Word
reveals to us in Psalm 147:3 – He heals
the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Make a conscious decision to believe God’s Word. God who is rich in mercy and grace keeps His
promises. Hold onto the belief and truth
of God’s Word.
During a
season of brokenness, God promises that He is close and that He will provide us
with power, courage and wisdom. We must
admit our need for God and seek Him. Psalm 34:17-18 – The righteous cry out, and
the LORD hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is
close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
During your
season of brokenness, trust in God’s faithfulness day by day. God loves us even more than we can
imagine. He gave His one and only Son to
die on an old rugged cross for you. Lamentations 3:21-25 – Because of the LORD’s
great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your
faithfulness. I say to myself, “The LORD
is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” The LORD is good to those whose
hope is in him, to the one who seeks him.
Believe in
the truth of Scripture when God reveals
- For nothing is impossible with
God – Luke 1:37. Do not allow your
season of brokenness to diminish your faith in the one that can heal your
broken spirit. Hold to the truth found
in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 – Therefore we
do not lose heart. Though outwardly we
are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are
achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but
on what is unseen. For what is seen is
temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Strive to take your eyes off your situation and circumstances and
fix your eyes on Jesus and the eternal kingdom.
In your darkest season of brokenness, put your trust in the one that can
do immeasurably more than we can imagine. Ephesians
3:20 – Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or
imagine according to His power that is at work within us.
Seasons of
brokenness are sure to come to everyone, even the strongest person. Just remember, our Savior and Lord’s power and
strength never diminish. He desires to
be our source of strength. He is our
only hope. Trust Him completely. Isaiah
41:28-31 – Do you not know? Have you not
heard? The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth. He
will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases
the power of the weak. Even youths grow
tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength. They will
soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and
not be faint.
Dear
Heavenly Father, I pray today for those who are in a season of brokenness. I pray they will seek You for courage,
strength, and wisdom. LORD, allow them a
glimpse of your mercy and grace during this season. Help them to place their hope in You. LORD make known to them the path of life, and
fill them with joy in Your presence. In
